Lives in Video – (16 to 25 Years)
Free 4 module course – Make your own Movie
Creative Arts Showcase are offering the Lives in Video project which will be led by Bromsgrove based video artist and lecturer (Thomas) Jack Brown.
Jack Brown is an experienced video artist and media training professional, having worked at NCS, Kidderminster College, Solihull Sixth Form College and Birmingham City University in a variety of media and pastoral capacities. He has also produced and exhibited video work in regional and national galleries and exhibitions and has received DYCP funding from Arts Council England for developing his practice
The enrolled young people will be encouraged to share their own stories, if they are comfortable with that, TJB and the Volunteer team will be able to facilitate and encourage how an individual goes about expressing information through a creative process, as there is a catharsis to telling one’s own story through creative means.
Alternatively the Group would be able to decide to tell a story of life and times around them and work as a team to produce a storyline and Group based video.
We plan that up to twenty people who meet the eligibility criteria and enroll on the program will engage with the project over 4 different modules.
The first module is planning the storyline to film, the second one is testing and trialing camera work through use of mobile phone technology and/or other video production techniques, the third module would be a period of time where young people enrolled would use to film their short film and the fourth module would be post production.
Additional support material would be made available for young people to work independently outside of these modules should they wish to.
The short term successes would be a collection of individually made videos or collaborative video productions.
These videos will be displayed not only on social media platforms but in arts venues throughout the Midlands, U-Tube and partners websites which could include ReNew and other quasi-Governmental sites, if considered suitable.
